# Use these docs with AI tools

> Connect your coding assistant to the Cleff docs so it answers from the current pages, not from memory.

Connect these docs to your AI coding assistant so it searches and reads the
current pages while it helps you integrate. For developers who build with
Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Cursor, or any other tool that speaks the Model
Context Protocol (MCP).

<Note>
  **Agents:** fetch this page as plain markdown at `https://docs.usecleff.com/ai-tools.md`.

## Connect any MCP client

The docs are served by a public MCP server. Any client that supports remote
servers connects with three settings:

| Setting | Value |
| - | - |
| URL | `https://docs.usecleff.com/mcp` |
| Transport | Streamable HTTP |
| Authentication | None |

Two read-only tools read the docs:

| Tool | What it does |
| - | - |
| `search_cleff_api` | Searches every page and returns the matching passages with links to their pages. |
| `query_docs_filesystem_cleff_api` | Reads the docs as a read-only filesystem: list pages, print a page, or grep across them. |

Your client may prefix the tool names with the server name you choose, such
as `cleff-docs`.

## Connect Claude Code

Run this in your project:

```bash theme={null}
claude mcp add --transport http cleff-docs https://docs.usecleff.com/mcp
```

Add `--scope user` to make the server available in every project. Run
`claude mcp list` to confirm it shows as connected.

## Connect Codex

Run:

```bash theme={null}
codex mcp add cleff-docs --url https://docs.usecleff.com/mcp
```

Or add the server to `~/.codex/config.toml` by hand:

```toml theme={null}
[mcp_servers.cleff-docs]
url = "https://docs.usecleff.com/mcp"
```

Run `codex mcp list` to confirm it is listed.

## Connect OpenCode

Add the server to `opencode.json` in your project root:

```json theme={null}
{
  "$schema": "https://opencode.ai/config.json",
  "mcp": {
    "cleff-docs": {
      "type": "remote",
      "url": "https://docs.usecleff.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

Run `opencode mcp list` to confirm it shows as connected.

## Connect Cursor

Add the server to `.cursor/mcp.json` in your project, or to
`~/.cursor/mcp.json` to use it in every project:

```json theme={null}
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "cleff-docs": {
      "url": "https://docs.usecleff.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

<Note>
  Cursor asks you to approve the server, and by default each tool call, before it uses it. Turn it
  on in Cursor's MCP settings, or run `agent mcp enable cleff-docs` from the Cursor CLI.
</Note>

## Read the docs as Markdown

You can also give a tool the docs without MCP:

* **Any page as Markdown.** Add `.md` to a page's URL, for example
  [`https://docs.usecleff.com/quickstart.md`](https://docs.usecleff.com/quickstart.md).
* **An index of every page.**
  [`https://docs.usecleff.com/llms.txt`](https://docs.usecleff.com/llms.txt)
  lists every page with its link and, for most, a one-line summary.
